Summer Reading Program

Many thanks to the participants of our Summer Reading Programs: Fizz, Boom, Read! and the Budding Scientists Read-to-Me Program. A special word of thanks to our parents for choosing to spend time reading with their children and encouraging their school age children to spend time reading. Research shows that children who participate in a summer library reading program sustain their reading skills and show an increase in vocabulary on standardized tests administered in September.

We also extend our thanks to the Young Adult Volunteers who gave us the gift of their time this summer as Summer Reading Recorders, Book Buddies, Game Night Assistants and Chess Night Assistants. The participation, enthusiasm and assistance of the young adults of our community make our summer programs a success. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Each week, as readers record their titles, incentives and prizes will be distributed. To conclude the Summer Reading Program, participants and their families will be invited to our Summer Reading Celebration scheduled for Tuesday, August 12th at 7 PM.

fizzThe theme for children entering Grades 1-5 as of September is Fizz, Boom, Read!.
